The youth and young adult workgroup identifies any gaps in services needed for the education, prevention and recovery from emotional, behavioral or mental health issues and advocates for those needs to be filled within the community. While every child is unique and special, sometimes they encounter emotions, feelings or behaviors that can cause problems in their lives and the lives of those around them. Families often are unprepared when their child or teenager has difficulty coping with things, feel sad, can't sleep, gets involved with drugs, or can't get along with their family or friends. Providing an oasis of information to the parents is a critical factor in the early diagnosis and treatment of emerging mental illness. Appropriate care during the adolescent years will enhance a child’s ability to recover and become productive members of society.
